What is restorative medicine and how can it help?

Restorative Medicine focuses on the importance of a balanced endocrine system by recognizing how the different chemical messengers influence each other. Stabilizing the endocrine system as a whole, rather than treating a single individual hormone, helps to optimize health and promote longevity. The ultimate goal of Restorative Medicine is to reduce or eliminate the need for ongoing medical treatment, when possible, by truly restoring health at its core. With a strong medical education, additional studies in endocrine system disorders, with an emphasis on therapeutic approaches for treating hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, adrenal dysfunction, and dysregulation, as well as male and female hormonal insufficiencies/dysfunction – Holly has made it her goal to master each corner of healthcare needed to optimize her patients’ outcome.

Meet the team!

It’s important to note that, due to varying regulations across states and provinces, it’s impossible to prescribe everywhere, regardless of designation. This is why Holly built her practice with a team—it took 15+ years to get where she is today. Together, they offer a collaborative and well-rounded, evidence based approach to your health.

Can Holly prescribe?

While Holly has extensive medical training, she is considered what is known as a CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine) practitioner, which means she is a non-prescriber. However, there’s no need to worry—like we mentioned above, Holly has built a team over many years that includes fully licensed prescribers who are an integral part of her team—no limitations (unlike with naturopaths!). Holly oversees everything within the HWH clinics, from dosing to assessing labs and troubleshooting with her patients, ensuring that every aspect of your care is carefully managed.

Since this is a global practice, it’s impossible to be licensed in every state or province. That’s why Holly has built a team of highly qualified MDs, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants. Depending on where you are and the services you need, you may need to see one of our licensed healthcare providers in addition to Holly.

Diagnostic testing is ordered and assessed by Holly as they are American and California is her home base-although she practices predominantly out of Canada and NY now. There is no requirement for additional scripts and therefore you would be seeing only Holly in this case.

Is Holly a Doctor?

First of all, let’s clear something up: Did you know that you don’t have to be a physician to prescribe bHRT, thyroid medication, or LDN? There’s a common misconception that only medical doctors can prescribe, but the truth is there’s little to no specific training in hormones for MDs, whether they’re a GP/PMD, gynaecologist, or any other specialty. Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) can also prescribe, order labs, and assess/treat patients. Rather than being stuck on a specific designation, we should be focused on adequate training (and that you can get what you need without limitations).

What really matters, is not just WHO can prescribe, but whether they know HOW to prescribe—especially when it comes to hormone optimization and supra-physiological levels. While Holly is extensively medically trained and holds multiple certifications, she is not a medical doctor nor practicing as one. Her specialties include hormone optimization through bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (bHRT), but while she’s not the one signing prescriptions, she is deeply involved in every aspect of your care. Holly oversees testing, intakes, and all discussions regarding prescriptions with both the prescribing provider and the patient. Treatment plans are closely monitored by Holly, and any adjustments or troubleshooting of medication are always done in collaboration with her, due to her advanced training in hormone therapy. The beauty of working with a team is that we all share the same training and expertise, ensuring that you’re always in good hands.

While Holly oversees every step of your care, she won’t be the one signing prescriptions. Does that mean Holly isn’t qualified? Absolutely not! Holly has received the same extensive training, has a strong medical background, and has expanded her expertise into areas she’s passionate about, including bHRT, LDN therapy, and thyroid care. When you book your COURTESY CALL, we’ll explain the process so you know exactly how it works before you make any financial commitment.
