1. Eat organic, you want to be very aware of the clean 15 and the dirty 30… You don’t need to buy everything organic, I mean an avocado isn’t a big deal. Chemical overload means your bodies systems are working double and triple time. If your waste systems can’t keep up then where do these toxins go?

  2. Non-GMO – this goes with eating organic. GMO foods tax the system, they create health issues and down the road can lead to serious disease.

  3. Detox and support your systems. You don’t have to buy expensive gimmicky cleansing products for this one. Eat liver supportive foods, kidney supportive protocols and love your adrenals. When you support your body it supports you back. This also means supporting your digestive track. Have you had your bitters today?

  4. Clean solutions not chemical ones! Get rid of those chemicals you are using to clean your home. Ditch the scented air fresheners and opt for essential oils instead!.Ban fibres from your house and those harmful laundry detergents and fabric softens are some of the worst ones. Look into natural dryer sheets where you can wash and re-use and ad essential oils for scent if you like.

  5. De-clutter. A cluttered environment is a toxic environment. Take the time out to organize, or hire an organizer. There are professional organizers all over the place. Having a clean desk at work has been shown to up productivity, same goes for a clean home. Having a clean and organized home has been shown to boost your immune system and instil a sense of calm.

  6. I mentioned decluttering, this includes people. Remove toxic people in from your life. They don’t serve your health and well-being.

  7. De-stress. ok this sounds like it might be impossible, but it isn’t. Remove the stressors that you can control, like environmental, food and avoiding overly stressful situations when possible. For all the rest you need to learn how to manage and cope with the stress we cannot re-move. This means learning proper breathing techniques, learning what foods work for you and adding 5-20 minutes of meditation every day.

  8. Ground yourself. Get outside and put your feet in the dirt, on the grass or in the sand. Be barefoot in nature, get outside, hug a tree, go for a walk, all of this will recharge your battery and help balance out your circadian rhythm. Give ti a try and see how good you feel.

  9. Clean the air where you live. Take a peel at this fantastic list of the best houseplants for clean air. It’s easy and if you space them out or watch for sales you can get each one on the list in a very short amount of time. (See study)

  10. If you are what you eat, you are also what you wear. Your skin is the largest organ of the body. You want to make sure what you are putting gone it is not toxic.

  11. Get some sun!!! This also means using natural not chemical sunscreens. While I strongly dislike this overused marketing label “natural” For lack of a better term I am using it now. Did you know recent findings show chemical sunscreens to not only be ineffective at preventing skin cancer, but that they may actually be a contributing factor in getting it! 4 out of 5 sunscreen products on the market cause more harm than good. Unfortunately due to great marketing and scare tactics we are believing the companies and not the scientific data. If you are D efficient as so many are, especially if you live here in Canada like I do. There are plenty of safe, non-toxic sunscreens on the market (see list)

  12. Clean drinking water. Did you know when Hashimoto’s patients removed fluoride from their drinking water they saw improvement if not complete reversal of symptoms? Get the junk out, grab a high quality filter (like this one) and don’t forget to re-mineralize and alkalize.

  13. Cook with healthy oils. You want to make sure your olive oil is actually the real deal, it holds mega medicinal properties (just ask those who no longer have allergies or hot flashes)- link to article. Problem is that with labeling laws being what they are we are being fooled by fake and rancid oils (Book) Using a cooking oil that oxidizes at low temperatures is not good for your health. Which olive oil should you use? Personally I only use oils from a trusted local supplier (The Unrefined Olive) but if you aren’t near Ottawa you can check out this link for a list of decent ones. The polyphenol count being as high as possible is key, check out the link I posted to my article on DAO for a full explanation.

  14. Ditch the non – stick. I can’t believe that these are even still on the market! The body can’t eliminate the chemical shit-storm found in teflon. Still think you need something with a non stick feature? Try a good quality ceramic pan, you can think me later.

  15. Last but not least…Get your sweat on! It’s pretty simple, sweat out the toxins. Get out and get active.
